Your Secret Sins and Hidden Hates

The things you won't want to forgive, or even look closely at, are "the secret sins and hidden hates" that the Course talks about, which are really symbolic of how you hate yourself, except you've projected them, so they seem to be outside of you. Goal of the Course

A chief goal of the Course is to lead the student to an Identity, and associated experiences, that are not of this world. These non-intellectual experiences, which are paradoxically the result of intellectual processes, are in fact the forerunner to the Holy Spirit's permanent answer to this world. Most people would hesitate to give up the world, but would they be so hesitant if they were given a clear taste of the alternative? The Holy Spirit vs The Ego

If it weren't for the Holy Spirit, your situation would be hopeless. Your hatred and guilt would remain forever trapped in the depths of your unconscious. Happily for you, the Holy Spirit is no fool - and the ego is no match for Him. When you join with the Holy Spirit's forgiveness, the ego is no match for you either. On some level, the ego knows this - and is always in fear of its purported existence. So are you, but only when you identify with your ego instead of the Holy Spirit. The Nature of Special Relatinships

The special relationships of the world are destructive, selfish, and childishly egocentric. Yet, if given to the Holy Spirit, these relationships can become the holiest things on earth.

Salvation is for the Mind

A Course in Miracles is always done at the level of the mind, not out in the world. Going to church, temple, or any place of worship should be viewed as a social phenomenon. Some kind of public worship has always been an important part of society, and it is obvious that many of today's religious institutions are positive influences in their communities. But where you will REALLY find salvation is in the mind. There is nothing inherently holy about any physical place or object. The Universe is a mis-Creation

The idea of separation, as well as your subsequent decisions, are things that God is totally unconcerned about. The events in a dream are of no consequence, simply because they are not really happening. Although it appears to you to be very real and often terrible, your universe is nothing but idle, miscreated thought - and energy is nothing but projected thought. And matter is just a different form of energy. Projecting Guilt

Part of the deception of the ego is that when people judge others and believe they are right, they sometimes feel good temporarily, because they've managed to project some of their unconscious guilt onto somebody else. Then a couple days later, without knowing why, their unconscious guilt - which they have no idea about - catches up with them and they have a car accident, or hurt themselves in any one of a thousand more subtle ways. Of course that's an illusory, linear example. The whole thing is really set up ahead of time, but it's an example of one of the ways things play themselves out. ~ The Disappearance of the Universe

The Purpose of Time

The Course turns you on to the fact that this is only a dream, and asks, "Yet where are dreams but in a mind asleep? And can a dream succeed in making real the picture it projects outside itself? Save time, my brother; learn what time is for." The purpose of time is to forgive. That is the only viable answer to life. Freedom from the Body

In most cases, if people knew what freedom from the body is like they wouldn't mourn the dead - they'd be jealous. The problem is that the fun doesn't last. Your unconscious guilt catches up with you and causes you to hide in a security-blanket body again. Sickness Isn't Personal

Sickness isn't personal. Sickness is not made by you at this level. That's just another reason why no one should feel bad about it if they get sick. You don't choose cancer on this level any more than a baby chose to be deformed on this level. Illness was made by your mind at a larger level, and is being acted out here in a predetermined way. Awakening from the Dream

The day will come when you will awaken from the dream. And it will come a hell of a lot faster than it would have been if you weren't prepared to accept the Course. Eventually the Course's thought system will be second nature to you, and you'll be able to apply it with less and less effort. Sometimes there's no thinking at all; it's just a way of being. Solving a Problem

If you solve one problem in the universe of time and space, then what you get is another problem. That's the way it's set up so you'll keep looking for answers in the wrong place, out there in the world where the problem appears to be, instead of where it really is, which is in the mind that caused the one real problem in the first place. ~ Your Immortal Reality

The Kingdom of Heaven

J was teaching that the Kingdom of Heaven is something that is PRESENT, if not presently in your awareness. "The disciples said to him, 'When will the Kingdom come?' He said, 'It will not come by watching for it. It will not be said, "Behold here," or "Behold there." Rather, the Kingdom of the Father is spread out upon the earth, and people do not see it."

J is not saying here that the Kingdom of the Father is IN the earth. Indeed, he knew that the earth was in our minds. He was speaking about something that people do not see because the Kingdom of Heaven cannot BE seen with the body's eyes, which are only capable of beholding limited symbols. Heaven does not exist within the realm of perception, but is the genuine form of life that you will eventually become completely AWARE of.  ~ The Disappearance of the Universe

Forgiving What's In Your Face

Don't just hide out and study. Interact with people. Experience them and forgive them when you should. Consider it to be an opportunity. Illusions must be forgiven on the level where they are experienced. That means living a normal life and interacting with society. Remember, the Course wasn't given to a solitary person on a mountaintop somewhere. Why Wait for Heaven?

As J asks you in the Course, "Why wait for Heaven? Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. The light is in them now." You have work to do along with the Holy Spirit to uncover your eyes and get your mind into the condition where you can awaken from the dream and become aware of what you really are, and where you really are. No matter how hard it may be for you to believe in your present condition, all your lifetimes have been just one big, gigantic mind trip going nowhere.
