Don't Nitpick the Course

Let me caution you about something. Don't nitpick the Course to death. All the details of the Course's teachings should be put within the context of its larger teachings on forgiveness.

The Body is Meaningless

J's real message is the opposite of making the body real. In fact, if you want to be like J, then you want to eventually experience that the body is meaningless. Near Death Experience

You shouldn't confuse the very transitory joy of reported near-death experiences with enlightenment. Enlightenment happens during one of your illusory lifetimes. The body is laid aside once and for all only after your mind awakens from the dream. ~ The Disappearance of the Universe

Bodies Are Nothing

The more you forgive, the less you're taken in by the ego's tricks. As J says late in the Course about God's teachers, "They watch the dream figures come and go, shift and change, suffer and die. Yet they are not deceived by what they see. They recognize that to behold a dream figure as sick and separate is no more real than to regard it as healthy and beautiful." So bodies, sick or healthy, are really all the same, because none of them are true. And there's not really any difference between sickness and death either. Lucid Dreaming

Some Buddhists try to avoid reincarnating by practicing lucid dreaming while they're in bed at night - a state where you're conscious of the fact that you're dreaming - in order to train their mind so that when the death of their body comes they can simply decide not to reincarnate. That's very clever, but it doesn't work unless there's a total absence of unconscious guilt. If their unconscious guilt was completely healed they'd be enlightened while still appearing to be in the body, not just afterwards.

Without Guilt, There is No Fear

The attraction of death is the third of what the Course describes as the four major obstacles to peace, and your fear of death is subordinate only to your erroneous fear of God. You could say the fear of death is symbolic of the fear of God, and without guilt in your unconscious mind it would be impossible for you to fear either. J wasn't afraid of death, and he certainly wasn't afraid of God. There's no more need for you to fear your Father than there was for him to.

Forgiveness is Your Function Here

Forgiveness represents your function here. It is not God's creation, for it is the means by which untruth can be undone. And who would pardon Heaven? Yet on earth, you need the means to let illusions go.

Forgiveness Won't Result in Violence

Forgiveness will never result in violence, but judgment will always result in some kind of negative effect on the level of form, even if the effect is just on your own health. Violence is the ultimate and illogical extension of fear, judgment, and anger. ~ The Disappearance of the Universe
