Short and Sweet

So to make it short and sweet, you fell asleep and started dreaming, and when you're ready to wake up by listening to your memory of God, the Holy Spirit, instead of listening to the ego, then you'll wake up. It's YOUR dream, so only YOU can wake yourself up. The Holy Spirit is actually your own Higher Self. But remember, God did not send the Holy Spirit. He was always with you, because even though you could deny the truth, you could never lose it. ~ Your Immortal Reality

The Real Deal

All that glitters in the dream is temporary. No matter how much something attracts you, its transitory nature is woefully pale compared to the glorious permanence of Heaven. Go for the real deal instead of the counterfeit world, and you'll be making the wisest of decisions. ~ Your Immortal Reality

Forgiveness at the Level of Cause

It's by forgiving the world that you will awaken, and realize that you never left Heaven, and have remained exactly as God created you, which is perfect spirit. As J puts it, reminding us again that his themes in the Course are simple and consistent, "You are as God created you. All else but this one thing is folly to believe. In this one thought is everyone set free. In this one truth are all illusions gone. In this one fact is sinlessness proclaimed to be forever part of  everything, the central core of its existence and its guarantee of immortality."

But always remember the forgiveness that leads to this experience must be done at the level of cause and not effect, as J points out very early in the Text, "You must change your mind, not your behavior, and this is a matter of willingness. You do not need guidance except at the mind level. Correction belongs only at the level where change is possible. I Am With You Always

Remember, you're not here. You just thought you were. And you're lucky to have J to lead you out. As he reminds you in his Course, "When I said 'I am with you always,' I meant it literally. I am not absent to anyone in any situation. Because I am always with you, YOU are the way, the truth, and the life." He's also very clear about his method for bringing you home, if you're willing to do your part. "Life has no opposite, for it is God. Life and death seem to be opposites because you have decided death ends life. Forgive the world, and you will understand that everything that God created cannot have an end, and nothing He did not create is real. In this one sentence is our Course explained. In this one sentence is our practicing given its one direction. It's Up To You

We're not saying the Course is the only way. What we are saying is that if you're going to do the Course, then do it. Don't do something else and call it the Course. A Course in Miracles was given to save people time if they choose to. If they don't then it doesn't matter, because time isn't real. But it's up to you how long you want to stay trapped in the cycle of birth and death. ~ Your Immortal Reality

A Slippery Slope

Don't be discouraged by those who borrow form the Course instead of teaching it. There are even people who teach the Course exclusively who fail to understand it. They'll think that the Course is open to their interpretation. Yet if it were, it would be useless. What makes the Course unique is that what it says is NOT open to interpretation. It says there is no world and only God is real. The way to awaken from the dream of death is through total, uncompromising forgiveness of people because they haven' really done anything, which is how to forgive yourself. Any other interpretation is folly.

Yet you have Course teachers who are right there, making the Holy Spirit out to be like a real person acting on your behalf out in a world that the Course says doesn't even exist, quickly taking the student's attention away from where it should be, on the cause instead of the effect, and delaying the student's progress. Then on top of that it's a slippery slope from making the world real to eventually ending up like Pat Robertson and telling everybody exactly how they should behave in that illusory world, or else.

Don't ever fall into that trap. Respect what the Course says. Honor the memory of Helen and Bill by telling people the truth about how it came and what it says Don't compromise, don't sell out, and don't worry about what people think. What About Non-Judgment

Gary: I have a question. What about simple non-judgment? Isn't non-judgment the same as forgiveness?

Pursah: That's an excellent question. It's true that the ego cannot survive without judgment, so if someone actually practiced complete non-judgment, then it would eventually undo the ego, as Buddha did, except he had a little bit more to do, so even he came back one more time. The problem is that it takes longer to do it in the simple non-judgment way, and it's actually harder to do. It's much better if you have the Holy Spirit's thought system to replace that which the ego has made.

J not only practiced non-judgment, he also employed a proactive form of forgiveness to change the way he looked at everything, thus greatly accelerating the process. That's why he emphasizes that the Course saves time. His background in Jewish mysticism and Buddhism brought him to a faster version of salvation by not only undoing the ego, but actually replacing the ego thought system with the thought system of the Holy Spirit.

It's About Forgiveness

A Course in Miracles is about forgiveness. Diluting the Message of A Course in Miracles

There are many spiritual teachers who are diluting the message of A Course in Miracles by teaching methods they claim are in agreement with the Course when they actually are not. This confuses the student by diverting attention from what the Course is teaching to something different, which the teachers of apparently don't even understand are different, or else they wouldn't be presenting them as though they're the same by quoting the Course out of context to support their teachings.

One good example is the teaching that one should be in the now. Keep in mind that we're not saying there's anything wrong with the the idea that there may be some good in focusing on the now rather than the past or the future. The quality of life would be improved. The problem is that doing so cannot remove the unconscious guilt over the original separation from God that's still hidden in the deep recesses of the mind. Because of that, it makes each experience of being in the now temporary by definition, because it fails to remove the blocks that prevent that experience from being permanent. All of which is to say that there's not just a minor difference between the approach of The Power of Now and the real power of A Course in Miracles. It's the difference between being temporarily in the now of an illusion, or being permanently in the presence of reality.
