How to Achieve World Peace

The people of the world will never live in peace until the people of the world have inner peace. Just A Wind-up Toy

The next time you get upset with someone's behavior, think of their body as being a wind-up toy. If you really knew that the body was just a wind-up toy, then it couldn't upset you, no matter what it said or did. Forgiveness is Practical

Don't let anyone tell you forgiveness isn't practical on the level of form. Indeed, it can make all the difference in the world. Choosing true forgiveness and the Holy Spirit as your Teacher is NOT part of the ego's script - it's a decision YOU have to make in order to be free of the ego's script.

No One is Special

Keep in mind that there is only one of two things you can do - make something real or forgive it - then any new abilities that come your way should be given to the Holy Spirit and used under His direction. The Manual for Teachers says that no one has any powers that are not available to everyone. Jesus Went Beyond Being Human

J's Love, like God's, was total, impersonal, non-selective and all-embracing. He treated everyone equally, from rabbi to prostitute. He was not a body. He was no longer a human being. The Forgiveness of Relationships

Rule 3: The Universe Itself is a Symptom

Now here's the third biggest all-time, perhaps hard to believe yet absolutely true rule, when it comes to spiritual healing: Ultimately the universe itself is a symptom that will disappear. When you really wake up, what appeared to be real before is now recognized as the idle dream that it is. Then it is forgotten, or at least rendered meaningless. Your present lifetime and all of the others will disappear, and when everyone reaches the same state of enlightenment, the universe will disappear - leaving only God's universe of Heaven.

Rule #2: Pain is Not a Physical Process

Here is the second biggest rule of all time when it comes to spiritual healing: Pain is not a physical process; it is a mental process. Healing requires a shift in perception, and as the Course asks and answers for you, 'What is the single requisite for this shift in perception? It is simply this; the recognition that sickness is of the mind, and has nothing to do with the body. What does this recognition "cost?" The Ego vs The Holy Spirit (Part 2)

The ego says you're a body. The Holy Spirit says you are not a body; you are not a person, you are not a human being - you are like Him. The ego says your thoughts are quite important. On this level, the Course considers the thoughts you think with the Holy Spirit to be your real thoughts. Moreover, it could be said that the Holy Spirit is the only truth on the level of the world.

Rule #1: It's Not About the Patient

The Ego vs The Holy Spirit (Part 1)

The ego calls for sacrifice. In contrast, the Holy Spirit says there is no need for sacrifice of any kind. The ego says, 'The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.' The Holy Spirit knows that God only gives, and never takes away. The ego reverently proclaims death is real. The Holy Spirit says nobody is dead, and no one can ever really die. The ego judges something as good or bad; the Holy Spirit says it is neither, because it isn't true. Thus all things on the level of form are equally untrue because of their illusory nature.

Being Appropriate

When it comes to what seems to be a terrible tragedy, it's very easy to get drawn into it. Yes, you have to forgive, but you also need to be aware of a couple of things in such a situation.

First, choosing to recognize the unreality of the dream doesn't mean you shouldn't be sensitive to the needs and the feelings of people who are involved in a nightmare like that, such as going through the death of a loved one. You can’t expect bereaved people to do anything except grieve. Always allow the feelings and beliefs of others.

Second, it would be equally insipid to tell people at a time like that it's all a script they chose to experience. Let people learn the truth when they're pursuing the truth, not when they're grieving for their friends or relatives. ~ The Disappearance of the Universe

There is No Sin

If the world is real. then sins are real and others are guilty, which means you're guilty, or at least that's the way it will translate into your unconscious. If they're innocent because they haven't really done anything, then you're innocent because you haven't really done anything.

Releasing the Hatred

You're secretly afraid of what's in your unconscious. That's why you have to be vigilant. The Guiltless Mind Cannot Suffer

Another definitive idea in the Course would be that the guiltless mind cannot suffer. It blows the whole idea of glorifying sacrifice right out of the water. Because pain is not a physical process, it's a mental process, and if you healed all the unconscious guilt in the mind, then you couldn't feel any pain. Anger is Never Justified

A definitive statement in the Course would be the idea that anger is never justified. If you made the whole thing up, (which you did, albeit not on this level) then who is there to be angry at? And a related definitive idea would be, 'The secret of salvation is but this: That you are doing this unto yourself.' Good Times, Bad Times, All the Same

Your good times in this world are good only in comparison to the bad times. The comparison isn't a valid one, because both the seemingly good times and the bad times are not Heaven. You will eventually learn that it's all a trick, that your perception – something you value very highly – is simply lying to you. You wouldn't listen to your unconscious thought system if it didn't hide itself and lie to you, because it's so seemingly despicable, and listening to it is so painful, that you'd run away from it if you could really examine it.

Facing Your Fears

In order to really work with J or the Holy Spirit, you must be able to observe the ego's thought system in action - which is the same thought system you've subscribed to for eons without being aware of it. You have to be willing to look at it with the Holy Spirit or J as your teacher. Dreams Are Not Real

True forgiveness means you don't judge and condemn another. There's not really any sin and guilt out there, because none of this happened except in a dream, and dreams are not real. So J counsels you in his Course not to make the ideas of sin and guilt real in the people, events, and situations you see in the world. Peace in the 21st Century

An additional component of forgiveness would be that after you forgive, if you feel some kind of action is required, then always ask the Holy Spirit if there's anything you should do. Remember, the Holy Spirit doesn't do anything in the world, ever. But He can inspire you as to what you should do.
