Symbols

It's only through disciplined application that the practitioner can enter the glorious phase of experience. And I guarantee you, dear brother, that experience is the only thing that will ever make you happy. Words will never do it; intellectual concepts, theology, philosophical speculation – forget it. As J says in the Course, ‘…words are but symbols of symbols. They are thus twice removed from reality.’

And when you think about it, how is a symbol of a symbol ever going to make you happy? No. The only thing that will make you happy is the experience of what you really are. What will truly satisfy you is not a symbol of reality, but an experience of reality.  ~ Your Immortal Reality

Have to Heal the Cause

Only false healing can give way to fear, so sickness will be free to strike again. False healing can indeed remove a form of pain and sickness. But the cause remains, and will not lack effects.

You Don't See With Your Eyes

When you are apparently awake during the day and you have your eyes open, it’s not really the body’s eyes you are seeing with any more than when you’re asleep at night dreaming. Formula of Forgiveness

Here's an outline; a companion to the Course's formula of forgiveness, which says:
a) that the cause should be identified
b) then let go, and
c) be replaced.

That's the way to remember God. The Course also says that the first two steps in this process require your cooperation. The final one does not. In other words, the Holy Spirit's part is not your responsibility. That's why you have to trust Him. Still, it's helpful to think of yourself as choosing His strength, because ultimately you are exactly the same as Him and Christ. Through true forgiveness, you are becoming aware that you are the same as J and the Holy Spirit - One with God and Christ.

Co-Creator with God

There’s nothing meaningful in the concept of being a ‘co-creator’ with God on the level of the world, because J is saying that the only meaningful thing the mind can do that involves any kind of creative ability is to give up whatever appears to be separate. It's Just a Dream

True forgiveness means you don't judge and condemn another. There's not really any sin and guilt out there, because nothing's happened except in a dream, and dreams are not real. Remembering the Truth Can Bring You Peace

Remembering the truth can bring you peace no matter what the seeming event or person is who is being forgiven. As long as you remember the truth, you're doing your job. Sometimes your dream seems like a nice one, but then without warning it becomes a nightmare. That's the re-enactment of the separation from God. Yet neither the bad or the good that seemed to precede it are true.

True Empathy

To empathize does not mean to join in suffering, for that is what you must REFUSE to understand. That is the ego's interpretation of empathy, and is always used to form a special relationship in which the suffering is shared. The capacity to empathize is very useful to the Holy Spirit, provided you let Him use it in His way. His way is very different. He does not understand suffering, and would have you teach it is not understandable. When He relates through you, He does not relate through your ego to another ego. Self-Judgment

Gary: One of the things that really bothers me isn't just when I judge others, it's when they judge me.

Pursah: Their judgment of you is really your own self-judgment that is seen as being outside of you. They're not even there. Yes, it looks like they're really there and the judgment is outside of you, but it's not. When you forgive the other, you're really forgiving what's in your own mind. Miracles are all the Same

Real Spirit

Real spirit is whole and permanent. That's your immortal reality. Giving Up Nothing

Nobody is asking you to give up a lot in exchange for nothing. It's really the opposite. You will eventually come to realize that you are giving up nothing in exchange for everything - a state so awesome and joyous that to describe it in words is impossible. Make it Real, or Stay Stuck Here?

When you meet people in this lifetime whom you’ve had dealings and special hate interests with before in other lifetimes, it’s because you’re orbiting each other, just as planets orbit the sun. Because the unconscious mind has retained the memory of them, you’ll have conflict, sometimes right away and sometimes later in the relationship. In some lifetimes you'll be the victim, and in others, the victimizer.
