What
a lot of people don’t realize about the Last Supper was that there was a
lot of laughter among the disciples that night, as well as from Jesus
and Mary Magdalene. They usually looked like a normal couple. They had
no airs or pretenses about them. That
famous painting of the Last Supper, although it’s not perfect, does a
good job of showing them together that night. As for the laughter, look
at the Psalm of David. That’s been read at a lot of people’s funerals
even thought it doesn’t have anything to do with dying. It’s a way of
living, fearless living. You can learn to laugh at death. But Jesus
and Mary loved that part of the scripture. It says, “Yay though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for thou
art with me.” Of course!
