Behold the Great Projection!

The American Indians used to say, "Behold the great mystery!" The Text of the Course says, "Behold the great projection, but look on it with the decision that it must be healed, and not with fear. Nothing you made has any power over you unless you still would be apart from your Creator, and with a will opposed to His."

The Course also says, shortly before that, "For time you made, and time you can command. You are no more a slave to time than to the world you made." As J repeatedly counsels you, you can't have both time and eternity. You've go to choose. "There is no part of Heaven you can take and weave into illusions. Nor is there one illusion you can enter Heaven with."

Can't Go By Results on the Level of Form

Gary: I've tried to heal people before and they haven't gotten well. Does that mean I suck?

Arten: Yes. Just kidding. The truth is you can't go by results because you can't see the mind. All you have to go on is the body, which isn't real. The Course's healing is all done at the level of the mind. Sometimes the physical will be affected and sometimes that healing will have some other result you can't see. If someone  is doing the Course and they only have one leg. are you going to judge them as a failure if they don't grow back the missing leg? Remember, it's the mind that's being worked on. Once again, don't go by results you may or may not see on the level of form.

Gary: So there's still hope for me as a healer.

Arten: You ARE a healer, Gary. So is everyone who practices true forgiveness. As the Course teaches you, "It is not the function of God's teachers to evaluate the outcomes of their gifts. It is merely their function to give them." Again, who'e really being healed? It's Only a Dream

Gary: I had this dream the other night that was really clear, and I noticed that I had absolutely no fear in the dram, none whatsoever. I woke up and I wished I could be that way all the time. In the old days they used to advertise horror movies by saying, "You'll have to keep telling yourself, it's only a movie. It's only a movie." Sometimes I tell myself during the day, "It's only a dream. It's only a dream."

Arten: Yes, and it really IS only a dream. Sometimes you'll wonder why you can't just feel that same complete lack of fear all the time during the day. Yet I promise you the time will come when it WILL be that way for you all the time. Indeed, it is that way for you much more often now, but you have a tendency to take the peaceful times for granted and notice the unpeaceful times more. Fortunately, for you, you'll continue to do your forgiveness homework, and when your mind has been completely headed by the Holy Spirit there will be no such thing as fear for you.

Prayers Can Work Temporarily

Gary: What about the studies showing that when people pray for someone who's sick or being operated on, the person seems to do better as a result?

Arten: Since minds are joined, prayers CAN temporarily help - but they are not a cure in themselves. Only true forgiveness can remove unconscious guilt from the mind.

Four Cornerstones of Healing

While an advanced teacher of God wouldn't condemn illusory remedies, he'd also know what the Course says is true, and these four statements are like cornerstones of J's entire attitude about healing:

1 - Only salvation can be said to cure.

2 - Atonement does not heal the sick, for that is not a cure. It takes away the guilt that makes the sickness possible. And that is cure indeed.

3 - Being sane, the mind heals the body because it has been healed. The sane mind cannot conceive of illness because it cannot conceive of attacking anyone or anything.

4 - The ego believes that by punishing itself it will mitigate the punishment of God. Yet even in this it is arrogant. It attributes to God a punishing intent, and then takes this intent as its own prerogative.

Using Magic

In most cases it's better to allow the patient, and yourself for that mater, to use a combination of right-minded healing and some form of magic, whether it's from the traditional health industry or from other forms of health care. That way the mind can handle getting well without the fear that might accompany a sudden and spontaneous healing. When there's that kind of a healing, the entire unconscious belief system of the patient can be called into question. Some people can handle that and some people can't. Occasionally it can trigger great fear on the part of the ego.

Don't begrudge people their various healing methods and don't put anybody down for using them. In many cases they are still a necessary part of the healing in terms of the mind being able to cope. Just use right-minded healing at the same time, because practice makes perfect. While you're practicing, remember that the world's magic is not evil. That would make it real. Taking Medication

Being right-minded doesn't necessarily mean throwing away your medicine or refusing to see a doctor or therapist. That's been an error of many Christian Scientists. They've made a system of behavior out of what's supposed to be an exercise in the power of the mind. If taking a certain medication makes you feel better, it's because your unconscious mind finds it acceptable. In other words, you can accept that particular remedy without fear. That's true of anything that seems to work, even though anything except salvation only works temporarily. ~ The Disappearance of the Universe

Abundant Willingness

Sooner or later, it always comes down to some kind of forgiveness and how willing you are to do it. How willing are you to accept that it's all YOUR dream? How willing are you to release your dream and choose God? You know J plays a little trick on you in the Course. Most of the time he says it takes a little willingness. The Universe is Complex but Nothing

Getting in Touch with the Mind

Every location of time and space that you behold is projected by the mind that is outside of time and space. It's possible to get in touch with that mind. The best way to do it is to eliminate the barriers that block your awareness. All aspects of healing contribute to removing these barriers.

Remember, we're talking about levels here. We're not saying you're not responsible for your experience or that you didn't choose the script on another level. Sickness Isn't Personal

Sickness isn't personal. You may find that hard to believe, but sickness is not made by you at this level. That's just another reason why non one should feel bad about it if they get sick. You don't choose cancer on this level any more than a baby chose to be deformed on this level. Illness was made by your mind at a larger level, and is being acted out here in a predetermined way. You can get in touch with your power to choose and thus have an enormous influence on whether or not you feel pain, and sometimes lessen or eliminate your physical symptoms.

I say sometimes, because unless you're a master then you won't always be successful, and if you are successful it doesn't necessarily make you a master. Besides, it's the changing of your mind and its result on the way you feel that's the most important thing. ~ The Disappearance of the Universe

Home is Where the Heart Is

Home is where the heart is. If your heart is with God, then you're already home. Renounce the world, not physically but mentally. As Jesus says in the Course, "This world you seem to live in is not home to you. And somewhere in your mind you know that this is true." That attitude will make it ten times easier for you to forgive. The Bible Begins With...

The Bible begins by telling you, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." He didn't! If you're going to understand what Jesus is telling you, then you cannot compromise on these words from the Course, "The world you see is an illusion of a world. God did not create it, for what He creates must be eternal as Himself. Health and Sickness are the Same

Don't Nitpick the Course to Death

The Course isn't meant to be analyzed to death; it's meant to be applied on the level of the mind via the Holy Spirit's thought system of pure non-dualism, the only way back to God. ~ Mike Lemieux

Excerpt from Dude, Where's My Jesus Fish?

You don't need to sit there dissecting and analyzing every sentence in the Course – don’t get so caught up in the trees that you can’t see the forest. If you don't understand what a particular sentence or paragraph is saying, it’s not something to get all frustrated about and/or beat yourself up over – just move on.

Nitpicking the Course is the ego’s way of looking for excuses to not do the necessary forgiveness work that’s required in order to attain the goal of the Course. If you read a sentence in the Course that doesn’t make sense to you, most of the time, it’ll clear itself right up after reading a little bit more. And if doesn’t seem to, then just remember what Pursah says about all the details being put within the context of its larger teachings on forgiveness – that’ll save you much time and grief. And always remember, the first four letters of the word analyze spell anal – and I don’t generally believe in coincidences.
